I appreciate the opportunity to share with you the services Post Award provides in the area of research
administration.
Post Award plays an integral role in the overall mission of the Office of Sponsored Programs by striving to provide outstanding service to faculty and staff in the administration of externally funded sponsored projects.
Our office provides administrative services in such areas as: invoicing and financial reporting, accounts receivable management, cash handling, financial compliance oversight, subcontract issuance and monitoring, audit assistance, and a number of other areas relating to overall project management.
Our administrators have diverse backgrounds in areas of both financial accounting and contract administration. Overall, we are comprised of four teams. Three teams handle the day-to-day project administration of our restricted sponsored portfolio. Each of the three teams has an Associate Director who manages their respective team. The administrators within a team are primarily assigned projects based on the funding agency (sponsor). The fourth team is commonly referred to as our “Finance Team” and is lead by our Senior Associated Director. The primary functions of this team consist of cash handling, various account management, accounts receivable management, and effort report management.
Our entire group makes up the administrative liaison after the sponsored award has been established in the universities accounting system. Not only do we work closely with our academic departments and sponsors, we also work very closely with the OSP Pre Award office, the Controller’s Office, and the Purchasing Department.
One of the most important individuals that can assist you throughout your project is your assigned Post Award Administrator. Post Award Administrators are assigned by sponsor. There are several ways to determine your Post Award Administrator, the Project Authorization Number (PAN) will have the Administrators name at the bottom or you can go to the OSP Contact Us page.
If you have suggestions, comments, or questions on how Post Award can be more responsive, please call or e-mail me at 231-9389 or cruise@vt.edu.
